Caramel Cinnamon Cake Squares by Tammy

For Cake Squares you will need:

1½ cups AP Flour1 tablespoon cornstarch1 teaspoon baking powder1 cup white sugar1/3 cup unsalted butter1 egg1 teaspoon vanilla1 cup whole milk
For Caramel Topping you will need:
5 squares caramel candy1 tablespoon milk¼ cup dark brown sugar2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  and butter an 8-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, cornstarch and bakingpowder.  Set aside.
In the bowl of your stand mixer, beat together sugar andbutter until soft.  Add in egg, vanillaand milk until well combined.  Graduallyadd in dry ingredients until mixture is smooth.   Pour batter into baking dish and set aside.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, soften caramel candieswith milk.  Once soft, add butter, sugarand cinnamon until everything has melted together, like a thick syrup.  Drizzle the caramel topping over the cakebatter and gently drag a knife through the batter and swirl the topping intothe batter.
Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until cake tester comes outclean.  Try it and love it!

*NOTE: You may substitute the 1½ cups AP Flour and tablespoon Cornstarch with 1½ cups Cake Flour.
